Each state can claim outright success stories in several lodges, while many groups do a fine job at specific programs. For example, some lodges are known for excellent lodge education, while others are top-notch recruiters. Still others have an exemplary newsletter or building management program. This section showcases a number of these stories. --Similar to how the Harvard Business School uses case studies of real companies to teach Best Practices.
Success Stories are examples, meant to inspire. They should NOT be seen as the only way to get things done right. Of 300 great ways to recruit, only 20 may work in your lodge. Read these stories, look at the Discussion Forums for more ideas, and build your solution to meet your specific needs. Then tell us what worked, and what did not.
Important: Understand that when a lodge is included here it is not meant to be a boast. We are in this together. LodgeBuilder is an attempt to share workable ideas so that others can learn about and adopt successful programs, building upon the work of other lodges that have come before. Almost every lodge has one or more good solutions that can be shared with other lodges. These stories will help you decide which ideas you should try. The Success Stories are below - click on the Read More link after each entry to view the details... |

Quote of the day:
"Regard your good name as the richest jewel you can possibly be possessed of-for credit is like fire; when once you have kindled it you may easily preserve it, but if you once extinguish it, you will find it an arduous task to rekindle it again. The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor to be what you desire to appear." -Socrates

Can you suggest another lodge that should be listed here? Please write a paragraph or two (or more) answering the following questions, attach any additional info about their program, and send it in to tom@pro-activemktg.com. Thanks!
How is your lodge a Success Story?
- What was the situation at the lodge prior to the launch of the new program?
- What did the community think about the Lodge then, and what do people think about it now?
- Did you improve your facilities? How?
- What did you do differently to teach/attract officers or committeemen?
- How are you driving interest, recruitment and member retention?
- Any comment on interaction with the Rites and with the local Shrine Club?
- How are you integrating your members into the lodge, in terms of other programming, leadership, community events, degree work and meals?
- Any change to the program with the ladies and families?
- What is the future of the Lodge?
- What ideas can struggling lodges draw from your experiences?
- Did you change your fees, increase your dues or your candidate fees?
- How many members did it take to drive this turnaround?
- Were the older members involved, or was it just the younger set?
- How much time did it take each month to organize any new programs or events, and how was the work distributed?
- Can readers contact you for advice? (Please provide e-mail address.)
Answer these as completely as you can, and provide any other information you feel will be useful. Remember to name those members who have played significant roles. Brothers from lodges in every state and province will be very interested in reading of your success, and learning from your ideas.
